#ChooseToChallenge is the IWD theme for 2021
2020 was a pivotal year for challenging many of the assumptions about flexible working that employers had been clinging onto so resolutely. Little did we realise at the start of the year that those remote working opportunities so many mothers had been asking for were not only possible but were suddenly the only possibility. It’s led to some people gleefully proclaiming the birth of a new era of flexible working from which there’s no going back.
But it’s too early to be complacent. We currently run the risk of trying to squeeze new ways of working into outmoded ways of thinking. Which is what we had been doing before the pandemic began.
To create workplaces that fully support women’s careers we still have plenty to challenge. So this IWD I’m re-sharing a workbook I first put together in 2014 listing 10 ideas for inspiring change in the workplace.
